Event Description

Join us for a morning mountain cruise through Southern PA's beautiful state forest land.  We'll be traveling on legal state forest roads with our very own Justin Wiley as our tour guide. We expect to encounter some fantastic scenic sights along the way so be sure to bring the entire family.  We also ask that you bring your recovery gear including hand saws and chain saws if you have one. With the storm damage left over from hurricane Sandy, we may have an opportunity to clear some fallen trees that we may encounter along the way.

We'll spend the morning cruising mountain roads up until around 12:30 and we'll then take a break for lunch at a local restaurant (optional). Our BRJ group in attendance will determine lunch location. Once we're finished with lunch, it will be your option to end the ride, or possibly continue on with others who may want to extend the day.

This ride is open to everyone registered on this site.  We look forward to seeing some new faces along with the usual suspects.  We hope you'll join us.

Departure time: 9:00am (please be prompt)

Location: Frank's Pizza parking lot, 16 Park Street Mont Alto, Pa 17237

Cheryl, I took time to spray lithium spray grease on my leaf spring bushings after I washed it with the pressure washer. I also took my grease gun and lubbed all my grease zerk fittings, ie drive line, steering linkages and tie rod ends. Since I haven't checked them for a while I pulled my front hub bearings out, cleaned and repacked them with grease. Since you have a YJ you won't have to worry about wheel bearings, yours are sealed and maintenance free. I'd make sure you have aired your tires up and your jeep should be good to go!

Justin, I was going to suggest the same re: the air filter. I washed the YJ today & lifted the hood to dry it under the edges. The engine compartment was covered w dust (why was I shocked?), so I popped off the air filter cover. I took the filter out & tapped it against a pole - couldn't believe the dust that came out! I don't have access to compressed air, so I bought a replacement ($8). I was wondering what else I should be checking...

Just some food for thought. I gave my CJ a once over and found a few things from our mountain cruise. Mainly my air cleaner was caked full of dirt. I blew some compressed air thru it and it's good as new. Just something to think about for everyone who attended. Checking small stuff like this now will keep your jeep getting good gas milage and ensure you don't get stranded along the road with a no start issue. I'm also going to power wash my radiator and engine compartment out to keep it clean and working correctly.

Hope everyone had a good time, I sure did. May be we can do some more of these types of events when there is some snow on the ground. Make for a better time when your not eating so much dust. Glad to see some new faces participating in events. Special thanks to Scott for being our trail guide today.

I'll air down tomorrow before we leave the pizza place, also does anyone have a spare radiator cap that I can use or buy tomorrow? Mine is leaking a little bit.
